A lack of tides and water depths exceeding 700 feet in some areas make navigation simple. The Great Lakes really are salt-free, which keeps your boat looking newer much longer than salt-water. In the summer, daylight lasts well past 9pm, giving you ample time to sail to your destination.

The locals are friendly and welcoming. Harbor Masters have been known to loan the marina car out to cruisers looking for supplies. Sailors feel welcome and are treated like family.
