Michigan Yacht Sales is proud to have sold the first Yacht 55 on the Great Lakes. The new owners will be cruising on “Knot Flyin” and would be happy to introduce you to this unique model.
MEET MATT AND ANDREA
Meet Matt & Andrea, the proud new owners of this innovative new design. “Knot Flyin” happens to be their third Jeanneau. What’s in a name? “Knot Flyin” is a spinoff from their last boat, a Jeanneau 410 named “Flyin”. Pilots by profession, Matt and Andrea own a flight school called Crosswinds Aviation, located in Michigan. After all, a sailboat is just an airplane with vertical wings, right? We can’t think of anyone who has more fun onboard than Matt and Andrea. They are the perfect hosts and are passionate about life aboard.
WHAT SETS THE JEANNEAU YACHT 55 APART?
REVOLUTIONARY DECK LAYOUT
After a successful debut, the 55 was quickly dubbed “The MonoCat” as the dual cockpit design combines the open cockpit and entertaining qualities of a catamaran cockpit with the security and protection of a monohull cockpit.
The forward cockpit acts as a three-season’s room with a dining and lounging area on deck that offers 360 degree views in a well protected, enclosed area.
The aft cockpit is where the entertaining begins. With the push of a button the two large cockpit tables convert into day beds. An outdoor galley extends from the transom and the cockpit fridge puts your beverages within easy reach. The hardtop has a retractable roof for the days when you want the sun to shine in.
The twin helm stations are located between the two cockpits so the skipper is in the middle of the action. Walk-around side decks allow the skipper and the guests seamless access to the foredeck without climbing over combings. These innovations and this groundbreaking layout enable you to cruise in all seasons and latitudes, placing the pleasure of sailing back at the heart of life on board.
PRIVATE APARTMENT INTERIOR
In an unprecedented layout, the forward owner’s suite occupies fully two-thirds of the interior. Refined, bright and comfortable, the Jeanneau Yachts 55 is well equipped for cruising with full peace of mind. The main companionway provides private access to the owner’s suite, opening onto the forward cabin, and features numerous handholds for safety on board while under way.
SEPARATE GUEST CABINS
Comparable to large catamaran design, from the cockpit, guests have separate entrances to two private cabins with ensuite bathrooms to enjoy perfectly independent living spaces.
EASE OF HANDLING
Bow and Stern thrusters are standard along with smooth electronic shift/throttles. Maneuvering the JY55 in tight marina spaces is a breeze. The power winches and all sail controls are within easy reach of the helm.
Faithful to the spirit of the line – with elegance, high performance, and comfort for offshore sailing and longer voyages – this sailboat does not hesitate to break from tradition to better meet the expectations of avid sailors headed for far-off destinations.
